Man, 47, Struck by Minivan on SR-246

Bradley Blackwell, 47, of Lompoc, was critically injured in a pedestrian accident on Highway 246 on Saturday night just east of Lompoc.

The collision occurred at around 8 p.m. on Oct. 7th, near Sweeney Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A driver in a minivan struck the man as he was attempting to cross Highway 246, the CHP said. The man was crossing from the northbound side when a Toyota Sienna hit him in the roadway.

Bradley Blackwell was thrown over the guard rail and sustained major injuries.

Paramedics responded and a helicopter airlifted him to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria.

Meanwhile, the driver of the van was identified as Kathleen Hacker, 73, of Lompoc.

Investigators are working on the case to determine fault, but do not suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.
