Sacramento Woman, 22, Killed on State Route 99

Araceli Giselle Ahumada Velazquez, 22, of Sacramento, died in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on Highway 99 at the US 50 Freeway split.

The deadly collision occurred around 2:20 p.m. on August 21st, according to a California Highway Patrol.

Authorities investigating the fatality collision reported the woman was a passenger riding in a Toyota. The driver of the car was traveling northbound in the No. 2 lane of Highway 99.

The car was traveling behind a Peterbilt dump truck that apparently slowed down ahead of the Toyota. The driver of the Toyota rear-ended the truck and left several people with injuries.

Paramedics responded and rushed two people to a hospital with major injuries. The woman identified as Araceli Ahumada Velazquez died at the hospital. The Toyota’s driver was treated at the hospital for major injuries. Meanwhile, a 6-month-old infant and a one-year-old toddler, who were in the back seat, were not injured.

Authorities do not suspect DUI was a factor in the crash.
