Car Collides with Amazon Truck in Sacramento 

An Amazon big rig collided with a Kia Soul on Thursday morning, around 3:00 a.m. 

The collision occurred on December 16th on the Interstate 5 Freeway near Cosumnes River Boulevard. 

It is unclear at this time what led to the accident that took place within the northbound lanes. 

As a result of the crash, the driver of the Kia Soul sustained injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Their condition is unknown. 

In addition, the truck driver did not report any injuries. 

Further details will be provided once an investigation is concluded. 

A report by the FMCSA indicated that in 2017, there were more than 4230 fatal accidents that involved heavy trucks in California. In general, there were 344,000 truck accidents in 2017, where 23% of the accidents resulted in serious personal injuries.

Furthermore, 27% of the accidents occurred along the interstate highways, 13% of the fatal collisions happened on the interior rural highways, which resulted in 35% of all the serious accidents, and 30% of the fatalities caused by accidents involving large trucks occurred in work zones.
