Deadly Bicycle Crash Reported on Sunday Morning 

An unidentified bicycle rider was killed after colliding with a vehicle in Los Angeles Sunday morning. 

The bicyclist was traveling north around 12:30 a.m. when the bike crashed with a southbound vehicle. 

It was on September 25th when the incident occurred on Centinela Avenue

The rider sustained life-threatening injuries as a result and was rushed to the hospital where he sadly died. 

He was described as a man in his 60s. 

The involved driver was fully cooperative with authorities. 

An active investigation remains underway.

Similar to motorcyclists, bicyclists are just as vulnerable on the roads. According to the NHTSA, 30% of bicycle accident injuries occur when hit by a vehicle. In addition, these injuries are often the result of the driver not paying attention. 

Another issue that factors into bicycle and vehicle accidents is the fact that both parties are  not fully aware of their rights/responsibilities on the road. Who has the right of way? Drivers are also not always knowledgeable of when to yield. When a driver fails to yield, more of these accidents are likely to occur.
