Fatal Crash Reported at Ashby Road and Cooper Avenue 

Two vehicles collided Wednesday afternoon in Merced, resulting in the death of one woman. 

CHP reports included that the accident took place at 12:41 p.m. at the intersection of Ashby Road and Cooper Avenue. 

A Fresno resident, who is a 22-year-old woman, was driving west before making a right turn onto Cooper Avenue.

She then crashed into a Volkswagen driven by Heintz Guth, 85.

The Volkswagen overturned upon impact, killing the 75-year-old female passenger. She has been identified as Barbara Guth, 75.

Both Guth and the 22-year-old also suffered injuries and were taken to Mercy Medical Center. 

An active investigation remains underway.
