Two-Vehicle Collision on Cross Canyons Road
Investigators are working to determine fault regarding a head-on collision that occurred Thursday morning in San Miguel.
It was around 6:18 a.m. on February 24th when a Mercedes Benz and another vehicle collided.
The crash took place on Cross Canyons Road near Casey Drive.
Both vehicles sustained front-end damage and had to be removed by tow trucks from the scene.
Minor injuries were sustained but it is unclear how many people were injured.
The crash remains under investigation.
Witnesses are urged to contact CHP to help them figure out all of the details of the accident.
Head-on collisions are without a doubt the most dangerous types of crashes. They may only account for 2% of accidents, however they make up 10% of all deadly crashes.
The Fatal Analysis Reporting System (FARS) has found that:
- 75% of head-on crashes happen in rural areas
- They are most common on two-lane highways
- Failure in negotiating a curve on the road causes 23% of all fatal head-on collisions
- 58% of head-on collisions result in a fatality
