Deadly Pedestrian Crash at Pino Drive and Lindo Lane
CHP reported a fatal pedestrian accident on Thursday morning around 6:45 a.m. in Lakeside.
The incident occurred on February 17th at the intersection of Pino Drive and Lindo Lane.
According to reports, the 37-year-old driver of a Honda Accord was traveling north at the time of the accident.
The driver allegedly struck a 77-year-old woman that was crossing Lino Lane.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and rushed the victim to a San Diego hospital where she ended up dying due to her injuries.
The intersection was shut down for investigation purposes for a period of time following the incident and was reopened around 9:15 a.m.
The involved driver stayed at the scene and was fully cooperative with authorities. There was also a child in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
An active investigation is underway.
According to statistics, there was a 26% increase in pedestrian deaths in California from 2014-2018.
In addition, California’s pedestrian fatality rate is about 25% higher than the national average.
