Fatal San Jose Crash Involving Motorcycle
Two motorcyclists were involved in a deadly collision on Friday morning in San Jose, CA.
The incident happened within the southbound lanes of Highway 101 at State Route 87.
It was about 1:15 a.m. on January 28th when the crash occurred.
According to CHP reports, two motorcycles collided for unknown reasons and one of the bikes went down in the number 1 lane.
The other went down in the number 2 lane and several vehicles also stopped to help.
One unidentified person sustained major injuries and sadly died at the scene.
Authorities also issued a SigAlert at 1:49 a.m. due to all lanes being blocked heading south. Traffic was also diverted to southbound SR-87.
The roadway was opened back up after an hour.
Investigators are actively working to determine liability.
According to statistics, approximately 80% of accidents involving a motorcycle result in injuries or death.
