Las Vegas DUI Collision Kills Pedestrian

Police arrested a Las Vegas man who was driving under the influence and killed a pedestrian.

The fatal accident took place on Thursday afternoon, November 18th on Twain Avenue in Central Las Vegas. 

Per reports, two men were walking on the sidewalk when the man driving a Chevrolet Silverado ran them over. 

Both pedestrians were 46 years of age and sadly one died at the scene. The other sustained minor injuries and is expected to be OK. 

The driver of the vehicle, Anthony Dyane Stewart, 44, fled the scene but was later taken into custody. 

Stewart has been charged with driving under the influence causing death, driving without a license and possession of a gun. 

He is expected to appear in court on Friday afternoon. 

According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
