Fatal Pedestrian Accident on 110 Freeway
A pedestrian was hit and killed on Monday morning in the Florence area on the Harbor (110) Freeway.
Per reports, a vehicle hit an unidentified woman around 12:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes at the Florence Avenue off-ramp.
When police and paramedics responded to the scene the woman was already unconscious, and pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities also issued a SigAlert and shut down the number 4 & 5 lanes for a period of time.
Investigators are actively working to determine what may have led up to the fatal accident.
According to statistics, there was a 26% increase in pedestrian deaths in California from 2014-2018.
In addition, California’s pedestrian fatality rate is about 25% higher than the national average.

- Avoid distractions (use of headphones, cell phone)
- Obey traffic laws & signals
- Always use crosswalk
