58-year-old Roger Washington Killed  

The fatal accident occurred last Thursday September 30th, around 8:15 a.m. on Watt Avenue. 

According to reports, an unspecified vehicle struck Washington due to reasons unknown near the intersection of Watt and Whitney Avenue. 

Unfortunately, when paramedics responded to the scene Washington was pronounced dead. 

As a result of the incident CHP shut down the intersection for a period of time.

The fatal accident remains under investigation. 

According to statistics, there was a 26% increase in pedestrian deaths in California from 2014-2018.

In addition, California’s pedestrian fatality rate is about 25% higher than the national average.

• Avoid distractions (use of headphones, cell phone) 
• Obey traffic laws & signals
• Always use crosswalk
