Daniel Ramos Injured After Hit-and-Run
A hit-and-run crash left Daniel Ramos, 28, critically injured and killed Lovisa Svallingson, 29. The fatal crash happened at Polk and Hayes Streets in San Francisco Tuesday evening.
Authorities said the accident happened when Ramos and Svallingson were crossing an intersection. At that time, Virgil Woods, was traveling more than 50 mph in a Chevrolet Avalanche on Polk Street.
Police said Woods ran a red light and crashed into a white Audi A6. The Chevrolet also struck the two pedestrians. Ramos was sent to the Zuckerberg-San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Svallingson was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, Woods abandoned his truck and discarded pieces of clothing in an attempt to hide and also filed a false police report. Police arrested and booked him into the county jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, two counts of felony hit-and-run, multiple counts of reckless driving, filing a false police report, destruction of evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to stop at a red light.
