3 Killed, 4 Injured in Collision at 107th Avenue and Deer Valley Road in Peoria

Three people were killed in a car accident that happened in Peoria on Sunday night.

The fatal collision happened in the area of 107th Avenue and Deer Valley Road at around 9 p.m., according to Peoria Police Department.

A Jeep was traveling southbound when it was struck by a Mazda that was making a left turn at the intersection.

The driver of the Mazda, identified as 36-year-old Elizabeth Simpson, and her passenger, 31-year-old Jace Hochstetler, were killed in the accident.

Officials say four children were inside the Mazda at the time of the accident. A 14-year-old girl succumbed to her injuries at the hospital while two others were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. A third child had minor injuries.

Authorities say all occupants of the Mazda were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

The driver of the Jeep was hospitalized with minor injuries.

The area of 107th Avenue from Deer Valley Road to Quail Avenue was temporarily closed as officers cleared the scene.
