Teenage Girl Hit & Killed on Carson Road

An unidentified 14-year-old girl was hit and killed by an impaired driver on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred in El Dorado County on Carson Road on February 8th.

It was about 4 p.m. in the Apple Hill area when a westbound Honda CR-V struck the girl.

The girl was reportedly walking on the narrow shoulder at the time of the crash.

In addition, the involved driver fled the scene; however, he turned himself in a few hours later.

Sadly, the girl sustained life-threatening injuries and died at the scene.

The suspect was arrested and booked on suspicion of felony voluntary manslaughter, as well as causing bodily injury while driving under the influence of alcohol.

His bail is set at $250,000.

The crash remains under investigation.

According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.

If your injuries are caused by the negligence of a third party you may be entitled to compensation. In the event of a death, families may also be entitled to wrongful death benefits.
