1 Killed In Accident In Salida, CA

The California Highway Patrol team reported a fatal traffic accident that occurred Monday evening on State Route 99. According to authorities, a man riding a motorcycle collided with a white pickup truck in the southbound side of the highway. The crash happened near the Hammett Road offramp.

Emergency crew arrived at the scene at about 9:45 p.m. First responders found the pickup truck with significant damage as a result of the incident.

Meanwhile, officials said the force from the impact possibly caused the motorcyclist to be thrown over the bridge. Initial records indicated the rider ended up into the nearby body of water.

The California Highway Patrol log later confirmed the motorcyclist died as a result of the crash. Pending confirmation and notification of next of kin, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed. At this time, no immediate information was available on the driver of the pickup truck.
