Vehicle Collision Leaves One Dead

A two-vehicle collision involving a big rig and a car north of San Jacinto left one person dead and another hospitalized, according to California Highway Patrol. The accident occurred Wednesday afternoon around 2:55 p.m. at the intersection of Bridge Street and Gilman Springs Road, near Mystic Lake.

When authorities arrived at the scene, the driver of the car was stuck inside his vehicle and had to be pulled out. Despite all efforts, the driver died at the scene. The truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital but only suffered minor injuries, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The crash also triggered a brush fire that burned around 40 acres of land. The CHP had to shut down Gilman Springs for public safety.
