Woman Killed in Crash Identified

A solo-vehicle collision involving a pole occurred Sunday morning, August 8th, just outside of Willows, CA.

According to CHP, the crash happened early Sunday morning around 6:05 a.m. on the Interstate 5 Freeway.

The two women who were inside the Nissan Sentra were pronounced dead at the scene.

Reports stated that the Nissan Sentra veered off the roadway just north of County Road 39. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a pole.

When CHP arrived, the vehicle was up against a tree overturned on its side.

One woman has been ID’d as 62-year-old Glenda Seth Pickering. The other woman’s name has not been disclosed, she was 56 years of age. In addition, both were Washington residents.

Without delay, investigators are actively investigating the cause of the crash.

Studies show that about 20% of motor vehicle fatalities are caused by a vehicle veering off the roadway and hitting a fixed object. Among these fixed objects, trees, traffic barriers, and utility poles are most common. Approximately half of these types of accidents occur at night time. Additionally, studies found that a majority of these deaths took place from July to September.
