Traffic Accident in Sonora Results in Serious Injuries 

A motorcycle, driven by James Ashley Burroughs, 39, crashed into the back of a Jetta on Tuesday evening in Sonora. 

The collision occurred just before 5:30 p.m. on January 4th near Highway 49. 

Virginia Hahn, 20, was stopped as she waited to make a left turn into a driveway on Shaws Flat Road. 

Burroughs was reportedly riding a 2008 Husqvarna motorcycle before failing to yield and hitting Hahn’s vehicle. 

Upon impact, the rider was ejected from his bike and unfortunately suffered major injuries. 

Burroughs was airlifted to Doctors Medical Center and his current condition is unknown. 

In addition, Hahn suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene of the crash. 

Neither drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision. 

Authorities also shut down the intersection for a period of time as investigators and cleanup crews worked at the scene. 

According to statistics, approximately 80% of accidents involving a motorcycle result in injuries or death. 

Motorcycle accidents, according to the NHTSA, accounted for 14% of motor vehicle accident deaths in 2019. Motorcyclists should be fully aware of the safety challenges in which they face while riding on roads in California. Below are some tips for motorcyclists:
