Pedestrian Accident at Citrus Avenue and Church Street
A vehicle hit and injured two 11th graders from Redlands High School on Wednesday morning.
CHP reported that the accident occurred at 7:30 a.m. on Citrus Avenue at Church Street.
A Toyota pickup was allegedly making a left-turn when the driver struck the girls within the crosswalk.
Due to the impact, the girls sustained moderate injuries and were taken to a local hospital.
Neither drugs or alcohol was considered to play a role in the incident.
The crash remains under investigation.
According to statistics, there was a 26% increase in pedestrian deaths in California from 2014-2018.
In addition, California’s pedestrian fatality rate is about 25% higher than the national average.

- Always be aware of your surroundings
- Avoid distractions (use of headphones, cell phone)
- Obey traffic laws & signals
- Always use crosswalk
