Harbor Drive Accident Results in the Death of 2
A speeding vehicle hit and killed two people in Point Loma on Tuesday evening, January 18th.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Harbor Drive, per reports.
An unidentified man was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when he crashed into two pedestrians who were attempting to cross the street.
The pedestrians, a man and woman between the ages of 55 and 65, sadly died at the scene.
Authorities also reported that the involved driver stopped at the scene and was fully cooperative.
An active investigation is underway.
According to statistics, there was a 26% increase in pedestrian deaths in California from 2014-2018.
In addition, California’s pedestrian fatality rate is about 25% higher than the national average.
