Traffic Accident on Highway 99 at Houghton Road Off-Ramp

Multiple vehicles collided under unclear circumstances on Tuesday morning in Bakersfield.

The crash took place on December 28th around 2:24 a.m. on Highway 99.

According to reports, several vehicles collided at the Houghton Road exit within the northbound lanes.

Upon impact, one involved sedan flipped over on its side.

Two involved persons were also taken to Kern Medical Center with minor injuries.

In addition, authorities shut down the northbound lanes at the off-ramp for a period of time.

An active investigation is underway to determine liability.

Multi-vehicle collisions are typically more common in busy intersections or highways. Speeding, weather, distractions, and drowsy or intoxicated driving are main reasons negligent drivers cause these types of wrecks.

When it comes to filing a claim with this type of collision, it gets difficult. This is because multiple vehicles are involved so determining liability can take much longer. Multi-vehicle collision claims are more complex due to numerous victims, multiple negligent drivers, cross-claims and insufficient insurance.
