Off-Duty Police Officer ID’d in Fatal Nuevo Accident 

Sergeant Matthew Lewis, 45, of Riverside, was killed in an off-duty crash on Monday evening in Nuevo, CA.

The wreck took place around 7:15 p.m. near Pico Avenue and Santa Rosa Road.

According to CHP reports, a truck towing a trailer made a left turn onto Santa Rosa Road. It failed, however, to yield to oncoming traffic.

Lewis was riding his motorcycle at the time of the accident and his bike crashed into the side of the truck as a result.

Sadly, the off-duty officer was declared dead at the scene.
