Bicyclist Injured Following Accident on Highway 267

CHP reported a major injury bicycle crash in Tahoe Vista on Sunday morning, August 7th.

The incident occurred at about 9:17 a.m. on Highway 267. 

A vehicle was reportedly pulling into a parking lot when it struck the rider. 

The bicyclist sustained major injuries as a result and was hospitalized. 

An active investigation remains underway.

Similar to motorcyclists, bicyclists are just as vulnerable on the roads. According to the NHTSA, 30% of bicycle accident injuries occur when hit by a vehicle. In addition, these injuries are often the result of the driver not paying attention. 

Because of the various dangers bicyclists face on the road, it is important that they possess all protection equipment.
