Motorcyclist Hurt in Collision at Market and 13th Streets
CHP reported a major injury motorcycle crash Monday afternoon in East Village, California.
It was just before 5 p.m. on June 20th when a tow truck driver ran a red light at the intersection of Market and 13th Streets.
As a result, the truck crashed into a motorcyclist.
The 29-year-old rider suffered severe injuries, including a burst spleen, fractured left foot and two fractured bones in his left leg.
The intersection was also shut down for a period of time for investigation purposes.
An active investigation remains underway.
Statistics from 2019 show that 846 people were killed in crashes that involved running a red light and about 143,000 people were injured.
