Bicyclist ID’d in Fatal Fresno County Accident

CHP reported a deadly bicycle crash in Fresno County Monday morning, July 11th.

The incident occurred around 3:40 a.m. at Jensen and De Wolf Avenue.

A semi-truck was driving east when it struck a bicyclist from behind who veered into his path.

The bicyclist, ID’d as Alfonso Chavez, 33, was ejected and not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Sadly, he was declared dead at the scene.

The involved driver was fully cooperative with authorities.

An active investigation remains underway.

JT Legal Group sends our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Alfonso Chavez.

Similar to motorcyclists, bicyclists are just as vulnerable on the roads. According to the NHTSA, 30% of bicycle accident injuries occur when hit by a vehicle. In addition, these injuries are often the result of the driver not paying attention.

Because of the various dangers bicyclists face on the road, it is important that they possess all protection equipment.
