Madera County Crash Kills 2

A semi-truck and an SUV collided on Wednesday afternoon on November 3rd in Madera County.

Due to the impact, two people died at the scene.

The fatal crash occurred at 4:00 p.m. at Avenue 7 and Road 3, per reports.

Authorities stated that the semi-truck lost control and drifted into the shoulder, then overcorrected by turning left.

As a result, the back half of the semi swung around, landing on the SUV.

Unfortunately, both of the people in the SUV were pronounced dead at the scene.

The roadway was also shut down for several hours after the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.

It is most often those in passenger cars that are killed in large truck collisions. Semi trucks typically weigh 20-30 times as much as passenger cars which leaves occupants of smaller cars more vulnerable.

According to the D.O.T., in 2019 67% of fatal collisions involving large trucks were occupants of a passenger car.
