Ryan Aguirre Killed in Rio Vista Crash on Highway 160
Ryan Oliver Aguirre, 18, of Sacramento, was killed in a suspected DUI collision on Sunday night near Rio Vista, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck happened on Highway 160 just after 9:30 p.m. November 27.
A 20-year-old from Sacramento was driving a Subaru south on Highway 160 when they drifted across the double yellow lines and collided head-on with an oncoming Honda.
The Honda went down the levee on the side of the highway following the collision.
The driver of the Honda, identified as Aguirre, died while being transported to UC Davis Medical Center.
The Subaru driver had minor injuries and was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. The driver was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.
Authorities closed Highway 160 for some time following the collision.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
