Two Vehicles Involved in Escondido Freeway Accident

CHP reported a two-vehicle collision that resulted in a rollover on Friday morning in San Diego.

The accident occurred on the I-15 Freeway at 7:47 a.m. on December 17th.

Per reports, a Ford Expedition crossed all traffic lanes then crashed into the center divider. The SUV then collided with a Toyota Prius after and overturned on its side.

The collision resulted in a closure of some of the northbound lanes.

Firefighters responded to the scene to provide aid; however, it is unclear how many people sustained injuries.

Multiple tow trucks were also needed to remove the damaged vehicles from the scene of the crash.

An active investigation is underway.

Statistics show that rollover accidents account for about one-third of all fatalities in the U.S. In  addition, 30% of vehicle fatalities are rollover crashes. These types of accidents are far more likely to result in a fatality than non-rollover crashes.
