Rider Killed In Motorcycle Crash

A 54-year-old motorcyclist died on Tuesday morning after he ran into the back of a pickup truck that had slowed in heavy traffic on southbound state Route 163 in Mission Valley. The motorcyclist was then thrown off his bike into the path of a BMW 328i car.

The unidentified man was riding a 1981 Yamaha RS around 7:50 a.m. when he came upon the slow traffic and was unable to stop in time. California Highway Patrol Officer Jake Sanchez said he struck the left rear of a Ford F-150. The man was an Escondido resident, Sanchez said.
