Major Injury Collision on Highway 1 in Santa Cruz 

CHP reported a major injury traffic accident in Santa Cruz Tuesday, June 7th.

It was at about 12:12 p.m. when a semi-truck and Audi collided on Highway 1.

According to reports, the semi crossed over the double yellow lines, causing a collision with the oncoming car. 

The Audi was completely destroyed upon impact, causing the driver, Renanta Russo, to become trapped inside. 

The 56-year-old Santa Cruz resident sustained a head injury among other major injuries and was airlifted to a hospital.

A SigAlert was also issued due to the closure of all lanes of the highway. 

The crash remains under investigation.
