Man Struck and Killed at Fresno County Intersection

Raymundo Martinez, 45, of Fresno, died in a Fresno County pedestrian accident happened Monday night near Elm Avenue and North Avenue.

A driver struck the Fresno man as he walked in the middle of the road about 6 p.m. on Nov. 14th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities are investigating whether or not the victim was distracted by his cell phone. The driver in the Toyota Corolla was traveling at about 40 mph at the time of the crash, according to Fox 26 News.

The motorist told investigators they did not see the pedestrian in the roadway before the crash.

Investigators are working on the case and will determine if any distractions contributed to the collision as well as liability.
