Las Vegas Deadly DUI Collision Linked to Henry Ruggs III

Metro Police reported a fiery DUI collision on Tuesday morning, November 2nd in Las Vegas. 

Wide receiver, Henry Ruggs III, 22, from the Raiders, is facing a count of DUI resulting in death after being linked to the crash. 

According to reports, the crash took place at 3:40 a.m. near Rainbow Boulevard and Spring Valley Parkway. 

Ruggs was allegedly driving a Chevrolet Corvette when he struck the back of a Toyota Rav4. 

Due to the impact, the Toyota caught fire and resulted in the death of an unidentified woman. 

Ruggs, along with a female passenger, were also taken to University Medical Center with minor injuries. 

Authorities discovered that Ruggs was under the influence. He will be charged, with no option of probation according to Nevada law. 

In addition, Raiders issued a statement offering condolences to the victim’s family.

Ruggs was the 12th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. 

According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
