Highway 101 Collision Kills 1 in Prunedale 

One person was killed and five injured in a traffic accident on Sunday in Prunedale. 

Reports included that the wreck occurred on August 28th just minutes before 2 in the morning. 

A Lexus had stalled on Highway 101 and was struck by a Dodge ram as its passengers were trying to push the vehicle to the shoulder.

Due to the impact, the driver of the Lexus was thrown into traffic lanes and run over by another vehicle. 

Sadly, the Lexus driver died at the scene. He has only been identified as a 22-year-old San Martin resident.

Additionally, two passengers from the Dodge and all the Lexus passengers were hospitalized for treatment. The extent of their injuries has yet to be disclosed at this time. 

An active investigation remains underway.

In 2020, studies showed that the state of California reported 3,723 motor-vehicle deaths which was an increase from 2019.
