Porterville Woman Killed After Delano Crash on Highway 65

A fatal Delano car accident happened on Highway 65, Tuesday afternoon in Delano. The collision took place at about 3:57 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

A Porterville woman, 31, was killed due to her injuries following the collision. Meanwhile, a Lamont man, 52, suffered major injuries.

Authorities said the man was allegedly speeding southbound on Highway 65 when he lost control of his gray Honda Accord. The man crossed the double yellow lines and collided head-on into a northbound 2021 Nissan.

The Nissan driver tried to veer off to the side to avoid the crash, but was too late. Reports note that the left front side of the Nissan hit the left front side of the Honda. Emergency crews responded to the scene and had to extricate the man from the Honda. He was transported to Kern Medical with major injuries.

The woman driving the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene on Highway 65. Further information has not been released.
