    Porter Ranch Update

After the removal of the previous assigned judge, on February 4, the Court assigned the Porter Ranch litigation case to the Honorable Carolyn B. Kuhl. There is a status conference is set for February 25 with Judge Kuhl, where the judge will go over the pending litigation matters with the attorneys that represent Plaintiffs and Defendants. Please remember not to comment on the judge or the litigation in any public setting and avoid discussions with anyone aside from your family, doctors and lawyers.

    Business Owners

For those of you with business claims, on March 6, 2019 in San Francisco, the California Supreme Court will hear the appeal to determine whether the business owners in Porter Ranch have standing to recover their damages.

    Firefighters

For those of you who are firefighter’s or have firefighter friends in the lawsuit, twenty-two (22) additional firefighters have joined the lawsuit against Southern California Gas Company (SCG), bringing the total number of firefighters suing the gas company to fifty-one (51). If you’d like more information about the latest lawsuit, click here to read more about the lawsuit and how SCG and Los Angeles County Department of Public Health misrepresented the findings of its benzene testing in their attempt to bury the information on toxicity levels.

    Continuing Health

As we continue our investigation, it is important for you to monitor your health. Your recovery for personal injuries will be based largely upon proof of your regular medical care and baseline medical tests. Routine complete blood count (CBC) testing is a good way to monitor for health changes.

There are two San Fernando Valley locations that are willing to provide a complete blood count test for $7. The phone number to call and confirm their hours of operation is (818) 779-0496.

One facility is located in Granada Hills: 10515 Balboa Blvd., Suite 215, Granada Hills, CA 91344 and the other in Van Nuys: 16742 Stagg St., Suite 120, Van Nuys, CA 91406. By providing your ID, lab results are available for pick-up, usually within two-days, at the 16742 Stagg Street location. It is not necessary to fast for the blood draw. When you arrive, alert the staff that you are there for the blood draw for the Aliso Canyon Medical Surveillance Study. Your results may be shared with Dr. Jeffrey Nordella for his Aliso Canyon research.
