Collision Involving Patrol Vehicle at Merced Intersection 

Two vehicles, one of which was a police cruiser, collided in Merced on Thursday, April 28th. 

The accident took place at the intersection of 14th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. 

A civilian’s vehicle reportedly slammed into the side of a police vehicle as both entered the intersection at the same time. 

Paramedics rushed the police officer to the hospital for treatment. 

It is unclear whether or not others were injured. 

CHP is actively investigating the accident to determine fault.

Tips for after accident procedures:

  • Always stop at the scene 
  • Call 911 if there are any injuries 
  • Get vehicle to safety if it is moveable, if it is not, put on hazards
  • Exchange information with others involved and document everything 
  • Call 911 to report accident – they determine who was at fault
