Woman Killed in South LA Hit-and-Run Accident 

The woman who fell victim to a deadly hit-and-run pedestrian crash on May 22nd has been ID’d as Petra Benitez Vilchis, 57. 

Vilchis was struck at Normandie Avenue and 59th Street at 9:08 p.m. 

She was walking within a marked crosswalk at the time of the incident.

The involved driver continued driving north after hitting the woman and did not stop to render aid. 

Sadly, she suffered severe injuries and died at the scene. 

There has not been a description of the vehicle released yet. 

An active investigation is underway.
