Hit-and-Run Crash at Main and East 20th Street

An unidentified pedestrian suffered a leg injury after being struck by a vehicle in Santa Ana Monday night. 

The incident occurred at 10:06 p.m. at the intersection of North Main Street and East 20th Street. 

At this time it is unclear what led to the crash.

It was also reported that the involved driver fled the scene. 

Someone called 911 to report the accident and paramedics transported the victim to the hospital. 

The February 21st crash remains under investigation. Anybody with details on the suspect are urged to contact the Santa Ana Police Department. 

According to statistics, 20% of pedestrian fatalities include fleeing drivers. In addition, 68% of those killed in hit-and-run crashes are pedestrians and bicyclists. 

There was also a 26% increase in pedestrian deaths in California from 2014-2018.

In addition, California’s pedestrian fatality rate is about 25% higher than the national average.
