Pedestrian Fatally Hit By Vehicle

A man walking in the street died after he was hit by a pickup truck early on Friday, the California Highway Patrol said.

The CHP said the victim was in his early 50s. Authorities said the crash occurred in the Montalvin Manor area of Contra Costa County. The man was hit around 5:37 a.m. at the intersection of Montalvin Drive and Lettia Road near the border of unincorporated San Pablo and Richmond by a man in his 40s who was driving a white pickup truck. CHP spokesman Officer Herman Baza said the driver stayed and cooperated and there were no indicators that he was drunk or on drugs.
