Major Injury Pedestrian Accident in Pacific Beach
A 66-year-old man is fighting for his life in the hospital after suffering serious injuries in a pedestrian accident on Grand Avenue in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego.
The San Diego Police Department reported the collision at 10:01 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8th in the 1700 block of Grand Avenue, according to a report by 619 Media.
The man was apparently was crossing Grand Avenue in a north to south direction on the west side of the intersection at 4400 Kendall Street. The pedestrian was walking in an unmarked crosswalk at the time of the collision. A 49-year-old man driving a 2011 Toyota Camry struck the victim in the roadway, police said.
The pedestrian suffered a fractured nose and pelvis as well as multiple abrasions and a large cut across the forehead and another cut above the left eyebrow.
Paramedics responded and rushed the injured man to a hospital with life threatening injuries, police said.
Authorities do not suspect alcohol was a factor in the collision.
