Passenger Killed By Fiery Crash On 60 Freeway In Ontario

The California Highway Patrol said a passenger was killed and the driver was arrested after a vehicle crashed into a pole and later caught fire on the westbound 60 Freeway in Ontario.

Pedro Richard Montez of Colton was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox east of Haven Avenue a few minutes after midnight at an unknown speed, CHP Officer Jesus Garcia said. The vehicle crashed into the center divider and then an exit sign post on the right shoulder. The driver was helped out by a passing motorist after the SUV burst into flames. However, the passenger could not be rescued.
