Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision Reported on 80 Freeway

Multiple vehicles collided in Richmond on Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of one person.

The fatal crash took place at 2:48 a.m. within the eastbound lanes of the 80 Freeway.

A total of three vehicles were involved in the collision just east of Hilltop Drive.

It is unclear at this time what caused a pickup truck, SUV, and third vehicle to crash.

Sadly, one person died at the scene as a result. Their identity is being withheld pending notification of kin.

Authorities also issued a SigAlert due to the closure of all lanes following the wreck.

Further details will be provided once an investigation is concluded.

Multi-vehicle collisions are typically more common in busy intersections or highways. Speeding, weather, distractions, and drowsy or intoxicated driving are main reasons negligent drivers cause these types of wrecks.

When it comes to filing a claim with this type of collision, it gets difficult. This is because multiple vehicles are involved so determining liability can take much longer. Multi-vehicle collision claims are more complex due to numerous victims, multiple negligent drivers, cross-claims and insufficient insurance.

If your injuries are caused by the negligence of a third party you may be entitled to compensation. In the event of a death, families may be entitled to wrongful death benefits.
