Deadly Scooter Crash on Avenue H-8 and 30th Street East

A man in his 40s was fatally struck by a vehicle while riding an electrical scooter on Sunday night.

The incident occurred just minutes after 9 p.m. in Lancaster on July 24th.

It was at the intersection of Avenue H-8 and 30th Street East when a westbound Toyota hit the man as it was making a turn.

Emergency personnel rushed the victim to Antelope Valley Hospital where he was declared dead.

Authorities shut down the area for a period of time as they investigated the accident.

Further details will be provided once an investigation is concluded.

Scooter accidents have risen tremendously since 2014. To be specific, between 2014 and 2018 the number of scooter-related injuries grew by 222%.

These types of accidents tend to be more severe due to the lack of protection scooter riders possess.

Only 4% of scooter riders wear helmets, and 1 in 3 people who are involved in scooter accidents suffer serious injuries.

It is important that drivers as well as scooter riders stay alert and take the proper precautions on the roadway.

If your injuries are caused by the negligence of a third party you may be entitled to compensation. In the event of a death, families may be entitled to wrongful death benefits.
