Two-Vehicle Traffic Accident Leaves 1 Hospitalized
A head-on collision in Saugus left one person hospitalized on Tuesday afternoon, November 9th.
According to reports, the two vehicles collided just before 3 p.m, however it is unclear what caused the collision.
The accident occurred near San Francisquito Canyon Road and Copper Hill Drive.
One unidentified person was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital with unspecified injuries.
Additionally, San Francisquito Canyon Road was blocked off while crews worked at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
A 2017 study showed that 58% of head-on collisions result in a fatality. Within this study results also showed that head-on collisions are more likely to occur in a rural area rather than urban areas. More specifically on two-lane highways and are oftentimes the result of a failed passing maneuver.
Head-on collisions are without a doubt the most dangerous types of crashes. They may only account for 2% of accidents, however they make up 10% of all deadly crashes.
