South Lake Tahoe Crash Leaves 3 Injured
An impaired driver caused a collision in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday night.
It was just after 10 p.m. when Nayely Lopez, 26, was driving before colliding with another vehicle occupied by three people.
The incident took place on Chonokis Road on May 21st.
Paramedics transported the three people to Barton Hospital for treatment. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Lopez was arrested on DUI charges causing injury as well as child endangerment.
She is being held at El Dorado County jail on $250,000 bail.
The crash remains under investigation.
According to NHTSA, more than a quarter (25%) of accident-related deaths are linked to the use of alcohol. With that being said, according to the CDC, there are 30 people that are killed everyday in a car accident as a result of an alcohol-impaired driver. That is equivalent to one death every 50 minutes.
