Encino Accident on Highway 101 

A pileup occurred on Thursday in Encino, leaving one person injured on Highway 101.

The accident took place just after 6:00 a.m. within the northbound lanes.

CHP reported that at least 5 vehicles were involved in the collision and was caused by one vehicle losing control.

A Jeep Wrangler ended up blocking the No. 1 lane and an occupant of a Volkswagen Passat suffered head injuries.

Multiple traffic lanes of the highway were shut down for a period of time following the wreck.

Investigators are working to determine fault for the collision.

Multi-vehicle collisions are typically more common in busy intersections or highways. Speeding, weather, distractions, and drowsy or intoxicated driving are main reasons negligent drivers cause these types of wrecks.
