Madera County Collision Leaves One Man Dead

One person was killed as the result of a multi-vehicle collision in Madera County last Thursday.

The fatal crash took place around 2:15 p.m. on Avenue 12 and Road 34 ½.

Per reports, a Saturn Ion was driving east when it attempted to pass a Dodge Caliber.

The Saturn sideswiped the Dodge as a result, causing the Dodge to collide head-on with a Chevrolet Traverse.

Due to the impact, the Chevrolet rolled over.

Both occupants of the Saturn were ejected, one of which was Nicolas Renteria, 25.

Renteria and another woman were taken to Madera County Hospital with major injuries. Sadly, Rennteria died at the hospital.

In addition, the woman suffered multiple broken bones and a severed arm.

There was also a woman and two children in the Chevrolet that received treatment for pain.

Authorities shut down a portion of Avenue 12 as they worked at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
