One Injured in I-5 Freeway Crash

Major injuries were reported due to a multi-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday morning in Chula Vista. 

Per CHP, the accident took place just before 6 a.m. within the southbound lanes of the I-5 Freeway.

A Honda CRV was rear-ended, causing it to overturn and hit several other surrounding vehicles. 

At least one person sustained major injuries due to the crash. 

Tow trucks were also needed to remove two vehicles from the scene that acquired damage. 

Further details will be provided once an investigation is concluded. 

According to the NHTSA, nearly 2.5 million rear-end collisions are reported each year in the U.S. More specifically, they are responsible for 28% of all crashes. 

In addition, rear-end collisions account for 950,000 injuries and 2,000 deaths each year.

These types of crashes are often the result of distracted and reckless driving.
