On Wednesday, authorities said a motorist was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 805 in Chula Vista.
Another driver was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and DUI for allegedly triggering the chain-reaction crash. California Highway Patrol Officer Tommy Doerr said this accident happened shortly before 11:35 p.m. Tuesday on northbound I-805 near Bonita Road.
According to reports, a Toyota and a Nissan pickup truck were traveling next to a construction zone and collided for unknown reasons and the impact sent the truck into the construction zone, where it slammed into the back of a parked dump truck. The Nissan pickup truck driver was later pronounced dead, Doerr said.
