Deadly Motorcycle Accident Reported on Road 24
A stop-sign violation resulted in the death of a motorcyclist on Thursday afternoon, August 25th.
The wreck took place around 3:30 p.m. in Visalia.
The rider reportedly failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection of Road 24 and State Route 201.
As a result, his bike crashed with a southbound pickup truck that was turning at the intersection.
Upon impact, the rider was ejected and sadly died at the scene. He has been identified as a 34-year-old man.
The other driver, a 70-year-old man, did not report any injuries.
An active investigation remains underway.
Statistics have shown that approximately 70% of motor-vehicle accidents are a result of stop sign violations. These accidents often happen at an angle rather than head on and about one-third result in some sort of injury.
Although stop signs are in place to prevent accidents, unfortunately not everyone adheres. This is why it is essential to always pay attention and avoid any distractions on the road.
